SHOWING AT WEND GALLERY JANUARY 4TH THROUGH MARCH 2ND

WEST SEATTLE ART WALK THURSDAY, JANUARY 11TH AND FEBRUARY 8TH 5-8PM

Anna Sparks is a mixed media artist, designer, photographer, and self-described 'arranger of things’. After relocating from Seattle to NYC where she lived from 2016-2019, she moved back to the Pacific Northwest to recover from a sudden brain cancer diagnosis. She received her 200-hour yoga teaching certificate in 2021 and UX Design certificate from the University of Washington in 2022. She combines her love for traveling and visual storytelling with her desire to spread a message and document the changing environment through art.

“La Vie en Rose” is a nod to her love for French culture and her passion for music. The mixed media pieces in this show depict seeing life through rose-colored glasses, or the experience of finding joy and staying positive despite life’s ups and downs. Her approach to art-making reflects aesthetic play and media exploration, and she uses parts of her unique 35mm and 120mm film photographs on the canvases to create texture and depth. Her process involves intuitively attacking the canvas with acrylic paints, combining recycled fragments such as vintage magazines, newspapers, and other found items into abstract compositions or designs. Anna finds the relation to culture and the natural environment always present and paints lyrically to the music in her soul.

Anna Sparks was born in Seattle, WA, and is currently working remotely in West Seattle and focusing on her yoga practice, art making, and love for music.
