Don’t let someone steal your tenderness. Don’t allow the coldness and fear of others to tarnish your perfectly vulnerable beating heart. Nothing is more powerful than allowing yourself to truly be affected by things. Whether it’s a song, a stranger, a mountain, a raindrop, a tea kettle, an article, a sentence, a footstep, feel it all – look around you.

All of this is for you. Take it and have gratitude. Give it and feel love.” -Z.D.

In creating my pieces it is my goal to convey compassion and growth through tenderness.  I am constantly inspired by nature and its connection to the human form.  I’ve visited many mediums beginning with charcoal and graphite, then moving on to acrylic painting, watercolors, and pen & ink, followed by more manual work such as linocuts and stamps. Since the beginning of this year, I’ve waded into logo design, utilizing digital art programs such as Procreate – finding my skills translate very smoothly from “analog” to “digital” mediums.

When viewing this collection of my work, I ask that you consider the words associated with each piece. For a moment, examine our connection to the nature surrounding us with an entire language of flowers that exists to express human emotions. Getting down to the root of it, we are nature from our insides, out.
